1. Who we are

"We," "us," and "our" refer to Jessica LaShawn Consulting (Jessica LaShawn LLC), based in Chicago, Illinois. This policy covers jessicalashawn.com and any subdomain, form, or client portal we operate.

2. What we collect

We only collect information when you give it to us or when it's needed to make the site work. Specifically:

  • Contact & inquiry forms. Name, email, phone (if provided), organization, and anything you write in the message field on our General, Media, Speaking, Partnership, Sponsorship, and Support forms.
  • Take a Seat intake. Your responses to the guided intake (goals, stage, budget range, preferred pathway) so we can recommend the right service.
  • Newsletter & SMS opt-in. Email address (and phone number, if you opt into SMS) submitted to "The Business of Almost Anything" newsletter, processed through Brevo.
  • Booking & payment. Details you enter into HubSpot-hosted booking pages and checkout links (name, email, billing information). Payment card data is handled by the payment processor — we never see or store it.
  • Client Portal accounts. Email, password (hashed), profile details you add, appointments, messages, invoices, files, and support tickets you create inside the portal.
  • Analytics & technical data. Standard web logs (IP address, browser, device, referring page, pages viewed, timestamps) collected to understand traffic and keep the site secure.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. We do not sell your personal information.

3. How we use it

  • To respond to inquiries and deliver the services you request.
  • To schedule, confirm, and follow up on sessions, workshops, and engagements.
  • To send the newsletter, SMS updates, and transactional messages you've opted into.
  • To operate the Client Portal (authentication, project updates, invoices, messaging).
  • To improve site content and user experience through aggregate analytics.
  • To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

4. The tools we use (service providers)

We use trusted third-party platforms to run the business. Each has its own privacy and security terms. The main ones are:

  • HubSpot — CRM, inquiry forms, booking pages, payment links, and proposals.
  • Brevo — newsletter and SMS delivery, subscription management.
  • Supabase (via Lovable Cloud) — authentication and database for the Client Portal.
  • Payment processor (via HubSpot) — secure handling of card payments.
  • Hosting & analytics — site delivery and aggregate traffic measurement.

These providers only receive the information they need to perform their function on our behalf, and they are contractually bound to protect it.

5. Cookies & similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed into the portal, remember form state, and measure aggregate traffic. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time; some portal features require them.

6. How long we keep it

Inquiry and CRM records are retained while the relationship is active and for a reasonable period afterward for follow-up and reporting. Newsletter and SMS records are kept until you unsubscribe. Client Portal records are retained for the life of the account and any legal retention period that applies. You can request deletion at any time (see below).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that's inaccurate.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
  • Opt out of the newsletter (any email) or SMS (reply STOP).

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@jessicalashawn.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.

8. Security

We use administrative and technical safeguards — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, row-level security on the portal database, and access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so if you suspect an issue, please tell us immediately at privacy@jessicalashawn.com.

9. Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify active clients and newsletter subscribers.
